Average win
Definition
Total profit from winning trades divided by the number of winning trades.
Why it matters
Compare it directly against average loss. If your average win is smaller than your average loss you need a high win rate just to break even.
Example
$9,000 of gross profit across 30 winning trades gives a $300 average win. If your average loss is $250, each trade needs only a 46% win rate to break even.
How to track it in a journal
TradeStack calculates the core performance numbers — win rate, average win and loss, profit factor, expectancy, drawdown and consistency — automatically from imported trades, so average win stops being something you estimate and becomes something you read.
