Frequently asked
What is the expectancy formula?
Expectancy = (Win rate x Average win) - (Loss rate x Average loss). A positive number means the strategy makes money over a large sample.
How many trades do I need before expectancy means anything?
Roughly 100 trades of the same setup before the number stabilises. Under 30 trades it is mostly noise.
Where do I get my real numbers?
From your trading journal. TradeStack calculates win rate, average win, average loss, profit factor and expectancy automatically from an imported CSV.
