How to export your trades from your broker
Founder of TradeStack. Builds the importer and reviews every broker export format by hand.
Export the report that lists individual fills or closed positions, not an account summary or balance report. Summary files only hold totals, so no journal can rebuild your trades from them.
Pick the right kind of report
You need a report with one row per fill or per closed trade: symbol, side, quantity, price and time. Account summaries, balance reports and open-position snapshots only hold totals and can't be turned back into trades.
Tradovate
Use the Performance report (or Orders/Fills) for the date range you traded and export as CSV. If the file comes out empty, the date range or account selected had no closed trades.
NinjaTrader and Rithmic
In NinjaTrader, export from the Trade Performance or Executions grid. With Rithmic (R Trader), export the order history or fills for the session range you want.
Interactive Brokers, MetaTrader and cTrader
In Interactive Brokers, run a trade report or Flex Query that lists executions. In MetaTrader 4/5, open the History tab, choose the period and save the report. In cTrader, export the closed positions history.
Import and check
Drop the file into TradeStack's importer. It auto-detects the broker format, skips trades you already imported, and tells you if the file is a summary instead of a trade list, so re-uploading is safe.
Frequently asked
Why is my exported CSV empty?
The selected date range or account had no closed trades. Widen the range or switch to the account you traded.
Will re-importing create duplicate trades?
Not in TradeStack. Trades that already exist are skipped, so your tags and notes stay in place.
Which brokers does TradeStack support?
Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, TradeStation, Tastytrade, Webull, Interactive Brokers, MetaTrader, cTrader and many more, with format auto-detection.
